Truth United Memphis Basketball
My name is Coach David Mason, and I am the CEO and President of Truth United Basketball Association. I am a proud graduate of Southside High School, where I played varsity basketball for three years, and a former college basketball player at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. Currently, I serve as a Lieutenant with the Memphis Fire Department, bringing over 22 years of dedicated service to my community.
With 17 years of experience coaching AAU basketball, my journey began with The Memphis Disciples. After three years, I launched my own team, The Memphis Knights, which later merged with another organization to form the Truth Memphis Basketball Association in affiliation with Deion Sanders’ Truth Dallas (Prime Time) organization. In 2023, I founded Truth United to further my mission of providing opportunities for young athletes who might not otherwise have access to AAU basketball programs.
Throughout my career, I have coached over 500 young athletes from Memphis, Cordova, Southaven, West Memphis, Germantown, and Collierville. As a qualified skills trainer, I emphasize training, fundamentals, and basketball knowledge, which have contributed to my organization’s reputation as one of the most successful in Memphis. Over the years, my teams have earned numerous tournament victories and awards across the country.
Beyond basketball, I am passionate about community service and mentorship. Truth United actively participates in initiatives such as back-to-school drives, feeding the homeless, and various social activities. We also sponsor The Hope Scholarship program, assisting students in gaining the community service hours necessary to qualify for the award.
At Truth United, we welcome players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. Our goal is not only to develop basketball skills but also to help young players grow into well-rounded individuals prepared for success both on and off the court.
